By an act of fate, theatre and painting happen to be the destinies that I was drawn to, and the language of which I intuitively understand. It's become a given of the art "business" that for an artist to succeed, no matter what his or her chosen style or medium, a "Mission Statement" is necessary, and the more obscure and convoluted and deliberately obfuscational the better. How ridiculous! It's the contrary of what good art should be and do. If you have to explain it, then it has failed. As far as I'm concerned, ignore Mission Statements. If you like the art then buy it.
